In our kitchen, we deliver a hands-on Alternative Curriculum with a heavy emphasis on Health and Wellbeing. We provide a calm, predictable environment where the cooking process is used as a tool for emotional regulation and sensory grounding. By focusing on simple, trusted recipes and vibrant world flavours, we ensure every pupil experiences success, building self-esteem through tangible success.
Our approach prioritises the pre-session routine—removing outdoor clothing and resetting the mind—to create a safe transition into the workspace. During the sessions, we move away from high-pressure academic demands to focus on essential life skills: mastering the Bridge and Claw knife techniques, the rhythmic nature of dough forming, and understanding healthy, sustainable choices are important.
This is a space where pupils can develop independence, manage their own safety, and learn to nourish themselves and others in a supportive, trauma-informed setting.
