Dosbarth Derwen – The Hub is a nurturing and inclusive Year 6 and Year 7 class where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, in line with the ethos of our school. We provide a safe, supportive environment where learners feel valued and empowered to grow, ensuring they can flourish both emotionally and academically. Through a strong focus on wellbeing, we support learners to co-exist positively, build resilience and develop confidence in themselves and others.
Our curriculum is rich, engaging and hands-on, offering learners a wide range of experiences including cooking, swimming and Forest Schools. Children enjoy exploring a variety of cuisines, from flavourful curries and homemade pizzas to healthy treats like colourful fruit kebabs. Outdoor learning is a key part of our provision, and through Forest Schools, learners develop independence, confidence and a love of the natural world while building essential life skills in a fun and engaging way.
Within Dosbarth Derwen, we promote independence and foster enterprise, creativity, ambition and curiosity across all areas of learning. Our learning environment is vibrant and stimulating, with enhanced provision areas such as construction, art, messy play, and calm spaces for reading and reflection. We believe learners learn best through practical, meaningful experiences, and we provide opportunities for them to explore, create and take ownership of their learning both indoors and outdoors.
